# Hyaecord

> Hyaecord is a performance-focused, native-feeling, source-available Discord desktop client for Linux (primary) and Windows, currently in early alpha. It is an original client — not a fork of Discord, Equicord, or Vencord — with its own sandboxed plugin API ergonomically modeled on Vencord's `definePlugin` shape, not a byte-compatible runner for existing Equicord/Vencord plugin files (see Plugin Guidelines for the current scope). It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Discord Inc.

Key facts:
- License: source code under the Hyaecord Public License (GPL-3.0-derived, source-available) — free to use/modify/redistribute, with two added conditions: no commercial use (no selling/paywalling the software, forks, or plugins; voluntary donations are fine) and forks must stay open-source under the same terms. The Hyaecord name/logo/branding are all rights reserved and governed by a separate trademark policy. Compliant forks are always allowed but must rebrand.
- Contains no automation, self-bot, spam, or scraping functionality; such features are permanently out of scope by policy.
- Telemetry: one anonymous daily ping (random ID, app version, OS, desktop environment — never linked to a Discord account), disclosed in the first-run wizard, with a one-click opt-out in Settings. The website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
- Third-party client modifications are against Discord's Terms of Service; the project discloses this prominently.
- Packaging: Flatpak (io.github.Hyaecord.Hyaecord), AppImage, .deb, .rpm, AUR (hyaecord-bin / hyaecord-git).
